[WEEK 1] mashup of 3 articles

MashUp:

Coherence is an emergent property — not present in the individual components. Our cities lack the cohesion of life, a thriving ecosystem, where in every organism survives only in a state of symbiosis. In a larger coherent whole, no piece can be taken away. Yet, the cityscape lacked a unique character to complete a harmonious whole as a result of both the urban-scale macro-manipulation of the whole building and the interior-scale micro-manipulation. Coherent design appears effortless; the activation of flow forms an organic punctuation in the landscape and a desire for an urban acknowledgement of enthusiasm in order to invoke a distinct sense of flow and continuity. We want to rebuild urban environments with life and emotion where people are connected and respected, and wake up metropolitans’ desires towards nature, such as sun and wind. We see this simplicity in nature, which means extremely complex but highly coherent. We create a space that is simple but has dynamic nuances, that is a seamless blending of an enormous number of complex components. For example, smooth, unbroken balconies that wrap throughout the building widen individual viewing angles at the micro scale and create a cumulative sense of revelation and discovery develops as perspective of the space continually shifts. At the macro, the cadence of the floors rising into the sky echo the modular rhythms of the human experience, yet creates a variety of spaces within a single volume. Not-separateness comes after achieving coherence.
