* THE TWO CONCEPTS

「 Interlocking as a means of joining.」

+

「 Shadow as material/ornament.」

theme - Aboriginal Past

Dark and light blocks join by interlocking, as how old and new cultures connect by communicating.

The sun gives us light, the earth gives us land and materials, so why not utilize, respect, and appreciate, like how Aborigines do in the old days.

* THE IMAGE CAPTURES AND ARCHITECTURE

The marker is located near the intersection of M7 and Eastern Road in order to be clearly seen from M7. It blends into the landscape, inspired by the Aboriginal lifestyle how they live along the nature.

The top set of blocks is created of timber wall finishes with some green walls reinforcing the connection with the natural landscape. The middle block functions as a lookout, facing the opposite direction.

The bottom set of blocks is applied similar texture as the Ayers Rock, which portrays an important role to the indigenous culture as it signifies a sacred figure to the Aborigines. A green roof finish to the block is also designed.

The nightview of the marker thoroughly displays the bumpy surface of the 'rocky' blocks. A fountain wall is inserted in the carved out section of the blocks which recreates a waterfall where exists in most of the Aboriginal regions.

This is a view from the lookout, where landscape fills up most of the vision. The east orientation enables the sun to rise upon, and bring up a bright new day. Sunrise signifies hope in Aboriginal culture. The 'star' texture is applied to the roof as ornament.
