[WEEK 4] model description

This is the overall view above ground where glass "bubbles" appear from under ground and portray showrooms. The ADVANCED blocks are turned into a shelter-like architecture which more effectively blends into the environments and connect with the below, JUICY. Stylistic stairs are designed to intersect the ideas from both grounds.

The view is captured from an eye level perspective inside the showrooms. From here, both stairs connecting the grounds above and below can be seen. The huge triangular stairs provides an extraordinary view and reinforces the theme to communicate with visitors. The stair to underground studio is also blended with the showrooms. The floor is either pushed upwards or downwards in circular shapes and applied texture to emphasize the displayed items.

This is a view of JUICY from outside. The reason behind the scientifically inappropriate use of glass for an underground construction is thoroughly shown in the graphic above. The hand drawn texture "moist" matches the raindrops (made of long glass blocks) surrounding the spiral stairs which drop towards the water at the bottom. The colorful elements are emphasized to exaggerate the overall style, which generates an attractive view. The "bubbles" are in glass, used as showrooms above ground, and are applied bright colors under ground as decorations to maximize its use.

This is the section of the whole building from front which displays the structure of building. The whole plan was developed throughout the project, where ADVANCED was originally closed blocks, and JUICY are in the direction rotating 90 degrees from original plan, to be able to function reasonably. Geometric shapes are used frequently above ground to signify an advanced, modern architecture, and perfect spheres below ground generates a juicy view.  Both platforms are connected by stairs to the ground floor.

[WEEK 3] relating video

The opening scene of the tunnel is really attractive and what I want to achieve. The rapid shift of camera angles and shots do not drive audience dizzy but instead create a fast-pace atmosphere. The varying perspectives show really different views of the architecture, even of the "master" robot. These are some very inspiring elements.

[WEEK 3] texture sketching

UPPER: spiky, dizzy, dense, rigid, blocky, metallic, rough, heavy, complex, strippy, triangular, puzzled
GROUND: light, distorted, twisted, fuzzy, wavy, tangled, rapid, wooden, floral, smooth, round, cracked
UNDER: shiny, crystallized, transparent, mirrored, drippy, silky, liquid, moist, linear, cyclic, staggered, cyclonic

The textures "dizzy", "wavy" and "moist" are used in the model.

[WEEK 2] stairs for second model

Below is the second set of models.

Upper: SCREAM (metal)
Under: ADVANCED (concrete)

Here are the original sketches of the models (mix-matched):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stairs for the model "SCREAM". The spiky, sharp balustrade and the material golden metal are to achieve a matching style to the client and model.

Stairs for the model ADVANCED. The main feature of this stairs are the shape of arrows of the balustrade. It is a strong symbol of advanced.

[WEEK 2] stairs for first model

Stairs for upper ground "ADVANCED" in the similar geometric shapes.

The original stairs in model.

The two sets of modified stairs depended on different conditions.

Stairs for under ground "JUICY". Water drops represented in glass blocks are attached to the balustrade and risers.

The stairs in model which extends to ground floor through a round hole on the floor in the outer shell of a glass sphere.

[WEEK 0] brief introduction

This is a "jungle" designed by me and planted with the help of grandpa. I was inspired as I saw similar bonsais planted in glass jars at florist along the street. My grandparents are both retired botanist. They live in penthouse of an apartment, where they built a garden with all sorts of plants at rooftop. Under the influence, I'm in love with botany and created the bonsai above.

Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest architecture in the world. I visited and stayed in the building for one night during Christmas holidays and it was amazing. It has a super skinny body with three sharp ends, creating an attractive, unique look  from any angle. I took the photograph right under the building as it gave such a strong view. It reminded me of Titanic.

It was in cold winter when i met this little kitten in a cat theme cafe while I was travelling to Beijing. But after spending the whole afternoon with this cutest creature, I felt extremely warm, internally. I sometimes envy those little animals, how they live so simply. The kitten was taking a nap under sunshine, and I thought it was the most beautiful moment.
